Indian expats: 4 passport centres in the UAE closed from 22 October 2026

If you are an Indian national living in the UAE and you plan to renew your passport soon, check which centre you will use. The Embassy of India in Abu Dhabi announced that four Indian Consular Application Centres (ICACs) stopped working on 22 October 2026.

The four centres that closed

  • Musaffah, Abu Dhabi (Capital Mall, Mohammed Bin Zayed City)
  • Al Reem Island, Abu Dhabi
  • Dubai Investment Park 1, Dubai
  • Al Majaz, Sharjah

Where you can still go

Twelve centres remain open, covering Abu Dhabi, Al Ain, Al Dhafra, Bur Dubai, Sharjah, Ajman, Umm Al Quwain, Ras Al Khaimah, Fujairah, Kalba and Khor Fakkan. Passport, visa, consular and attestation services continue there.

What to do now

  • If you booked at one of the closed centres, contact the embassy or the service operator to move your appointment.
  • Start your renewal early. Your UAE residence visa and Emirates ID renewals need a valid passport.
  • Keep a clear scan of your old passport, visa and Emirates ID ready.

After you get your new passport, your UAE visa details may need to be updated. We can help you with the visa and Emirates ID side of the process. Message us on WhatsApp.
